In this six-week block placement, (5+1), the student should begin with minimal hands-on experience in SAFE environments as determined by the supervising interpreter and advance to a more expanded hands-on experience as the placement progresses. The rate of progression is to be determined by the supervising interpreter based on his/her observations of the student's abilities. Continued feedback on student involvement and interpreting is requested. Upon completion of this placement, the student will have been exposed to and interpreted in a variety of interpreting situations including interactions with several members of the deaf community.
