Second in a series of four courses, students will discover vocabulary, protocols for conduct and preparation techniques for interpreting in the Social Service and Education settings. Classroom work will focus on developing an understanding of the interpreters' role and ethical decision making skills in these areas of specialty. Opportunity for in-class role play and live mock interpreting situations will be arranged with community stakeholders and the student. Analysis of interpreting performed will be done in class and feedback given. Students will be expected to strictly adhere to the AVLIC Code of Ethics, especially the codes of confidentiality and professional conduct
