This course will provide the learner with an understanding of the basic bulding blocks of language, language acquisition and communication in general. Focus will be on the comparison of American Sign Language and English. This course will be taught in both English and ASL. Learners will be exposed to models of language acquisition in both hearing and Deaf individuals. Basic linguistic terminology and concepts will be introduced.
