This course focuses on the field of freelance non-fiction writing for the newspaper, magazine, and online (web-based) writing markets, with some emphasis on Canadian markets, although not exclusively. Students will develop their ideas into acceptable compositions and learn how to approach suitable publishers for their work. They will develop research skills, including interviewing, and analyze a variety of print and/or online publications to discover markets available for their work. The course builds on the concepts introduced in Unit 1 of Writing for Publication I (ONT 121) but it is not necessary to take the level I course before completing this one.
