Course description: This course will examine several types of crime and the criminal justice system. Students will examine deviance and causes of criminal behavior from various historical and contemporary theoretical perspectives as well as ethical issues that impact criminal behavior. Students will examine various research methods used in criminology.
Course name: History and Politics in Contemporary Rock Music
Course description: This class will examine rock music with respect to the social, political, and historical context in which the different genres of this form of music were conceived. The time-period from the 1950's until the early part of the twenty-first century will be covered. This course is intended to foster both an interest and appreciation of history, political science, and music.
Course name: How to be Who I want to be
Course description: This course is designed to help students learn how to take charge of one's own life by developing an understanding of the factors that influence behavior. The focus will be on increasing self-awareness and facilitating a growth mindset as steppingstones to personal growth. The class will promote the development of personal strengths, coping strategies, self-management, and personal goal attainment. Students will also explore strategies for sparking curiosity and academic engagement.
