(King City, ON) The St. Clair College men's extramural indoor cricket team were in King City on Friday to take part in the OCAA/OCR Rec Cup Championship at Seneca College-King Campus. The Saints qualified for the provincial Championship by winning the West Regional event hosted by Conestoga College (Kitchener) on February 17.
The Saints started the day with a win over the host Seneca Sting (Toronto) in a one sided clash which ended up in a 23-22 final score. Pardeep Singh Sohal was named man of the match for an extraordinary performance with the ball. Up next in round robin play, St. Clair faced the Sheridan Bruins (Oakville), and came out victorious with a dominating batting performance in a 43-23 match result. For his overall performance, first year IBM student Rushabkumar Patel won player of the game.
St. Clair then had to take on Centennial College (Scarborough) in the semi final match to assure a spot in the championship game. The Saints had a great first inning while batting and convincingly took down the east regional champions with a final score of 53-29. Team Captain Gaganjot Singh received the man of the match award.
The Saints squared up against their rival Fanshawe Falcons (London) in the Championship game. In an ever changing momentum clash between the two, St. Clair managed to keep up the pressure and crossed the finish line with the last ball of the game. Rushabkumar Patel had another great all-round match, and was named the player of the game.
Rushbkumar Patel was named the Championship MVP.
The Men’s Indoor Cricket team ended their season with an outstanding 23-3 record, winning 4 out of the 5 tournaments that they participated in during the Fall 2022 and Winter 2023 semesters.
