Employers seeking students from the Zekeleman Schools of Business and Information Technology visited the St. Clair College main campus on Wednesday October 25. The Alumni Hall Lounge was abuzz with discussions about available positions, required skills and qualifications, and graduation dates. Students came prepared, resumes in hand, to network and gain valuable insights about hiring needs from local employers. This career fair, hosted by the Career Services Department at St. Clair College was the second in a series of career events planned for the 2023-24 academic year. A part-time job fair for students was held in September.
“Our strategy this year is to be more intentional and targeted in our career events to ensure employers are meeting the right students and students the right employers,” said Sash Querbach, Manager of Experiential Learning and Career Services at the college. “We collect feedback from employers after each event which helps us tailor subsequent events to their specific needs.”
In addition to career fairs, Career Services hosts individual employer visits and industry days targeted at specific college programs. Employers wishing to visit campus can contact Career services at careercentral@stclaircollege.ca or by calling 519-972-2727, ext. 4139. Students are reminded of the various career readiness supports offered at Career Services including resume and cover letter support, job searching strategies, and developing interview skills. Students can access these supports by visiting the Genesis Centre in room A1229.
