Former College Board Chair Appointed to Order of Ontario
Former St. Clair College Board of Governors Chair Dan Allen was one of 25 people to be appointed recently to the Order of Ontario, the province’s highest honour.
Allen was recognized by Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, in January for his public service.

Engineering tech and trades instructors get innovative online
Instructors at St. Clair College’s School of Engineering Technologies, Apprenticeship and Skilled Trades are using their ingenuity and their garages to teach hands-on courses to students online.

Two St. Clair College students living at a residence on the main campus in Windsor have tested positive for COVID-19. Both students had direct contact with each other without appropriate PPE.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has contacted the affected students and ordered them to self-isolate. The health unit will continue to work with the College to monitor the situation.

Culinary students’ Cook at Home meal packages are a hit
Culinary Management students at St. Clair College are serving up meal kits, a food choice that has exploded in popularity during the pandemic.
The Cook at Home meal packages have been so popular that they will likely stay on the menu and be part of student training in the future, said Chef Marc Johnston, co-ordinator of the Culinary Management program.

10th anniversary Sleighing Hunger concert raises $80,000 for local food banks
There were close to 2,000 virtual concertgoers who tuned in for The S’Aints 2020 Sleighing Hunger concert which was broadcasted virtually on December 18th. The annual holiday concert raised $80,000 from ticket sales, CD sales, music downloads and contributions from various local sponsors including a major donation from the St. Clair College Alumni Association.

Students to showcase their projects at One Ford event
St. Clair College students will have an opportunity in April to showcase their capstone projects to executives from Ford Motor Company, Air Canada and other local high-tech industries.
The One Ford Capstone Project event will be held virtually and will also feature networking opportunities, speakers and opportunities for mentorship with industry partners.
New program to create huge increase in PSW training
The Ontario government announced funding today for an accelerated Personal Support Worker (PSW) program that will cover students’ tuition and other expenses, allowing participants to graduate with full credentials in six months.
The accelerated program starts April 5 and is expected to produce a huge increase in PSW training at Ontario’s colleges.
