Since 1998, a collaborative venture between the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and the twenty-four Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology has been utilizing the Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to measure how well Ontario colleges are meeting the needs of students, graduates and employers. The KPI initiative is an attempt to ensure that college programs remain accountable, responsive, and effective in meeting the needs of its stakeholders.

The five indicators used to measure college performance include the following:

  1. Graduate Employment
  2. Graduate Satisfaction
  3. Employer Satisfaction
  4. Student Satisfaction
  5. Graduation Rate

The Graduate Employment/Graduate Satisfaction Surveys are conducted in March, July and November of each year. These telephone surveys are completed six months after graduation to determine graduates' employment experience and their satisfaction with their college education. Information for the Graduate and Employer KPI initiative is collected for all twenty-four colleges by Forum Research, a firm contracted by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

In June, November and February, Student Satisfaction Surveys are completed by colleges across the province. The survey results are then compiled by CCI Research. The KPI survey information collected from graduates, employers, and current students is then used by colleges to demonstrate their achievements and to improve their programs and services.

2018 Survey Results

  • 78% Student Satisfaction Rate - This year's rate is again above the provincial average.
  • 84% of Employers of St. Clair College Graduates were satisfied with the graduates' overall college preparation for work.
  • 82.8% of St. Clair College Graduates were satisfied with their overall college education.
  • 87.5% of St. Clair College Graduates were employed 6 months after graduation.

Common methodology has been used for the calculations for all program related information provided by all colleges. The Approved Program Sequence Code (APS) is a number assigned for each approved program by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The 2015 Graduate Employment Rate and the 2015 Graduate Satisfaction Rate were based on graduates from Summer 2013, Fall 2013 and Winter 2014.

St. Clair College uses the information collected from the surveys to ensure that students receive a superior and meaningful education that will prepare them for the job market. The information gathered is also used to enhance program quality and service excellence.
