Nearly 82 per cent of St. Clair College graduates were employed within six months of receiving their diploma in 2018-2019, according to the most recent Key Performance Indicators released today by Colleges Ontario.
The KPIs are based on surveys of 2018-2019 graduates, measuring graduation rates, graduate employment rates, graduate satisfaction rates and employer satisfaction rates of those who attended one of Ontario’s 24 colleges.
St. Clair scored above the provincial average in its graduation rate, with 67.7 per cent of students in the 2018-2019 school year successfully completing their programs and receiving a diploma. The provincial average was 66.4 per cent.
St. Clair exceeded the provincial average for graduate satisfaction, with 80.2 per cent of graduates saying they were very satisfied with their college education, compared to 78.9 per cent provincially.
St. Clair’s graduate employment rate, based on the survey of 2018-2019 graduates six months after graduating, was 81.8 per cent. The graduate employment rate provincially was 85.5 per cent.
Ninety per cent of employers who hired 2018-2019 graduates from St. Clair said they were very satisfied with their hires.
St. Clair College President Patti France said the graduate employment rate locally is indicative of the difficult economy that Windsor-Essex has been experiencing over the last several years. But the results showing an 81.8 per cent employment rate prove a college education helps people find success in the workforce.
“It is more important than ever for students to look at the career-focused programs available at Ontario’s colleges when they are considering their post-secondary options,” France said.
