Winter Convocation

More than 600 graduates showed up Jan. 29 at the WFCU Centre for St. Clair College's first winter convocation.

There were about 1,000 eligible graduates from Business, Community Studies, Engineering Technologies, Health Sciences, Media, Art and Design, Nursing, Skilled Trades and from the college's Toronto campus, ACE Acumen Academy.

The winter convocation was held this year because there was a large group of students who would have had to wait until June to receive their credentials. Adding the winter convocation allowed them to receive their credentials sooner.

Justin Lammers, a 2019 Alumni of Distinction from the Paramedic program, was the keynote speaker at the event. He encouraged the graduates to set goals and put themselves in positions where they could learn and be challenged.

"I promise all of you here today, if you're nervous about doing something or scared to jump in with two feet, it's only because you lack experience in that area," he said. "And the beauty of lacking experience is that experience is free. All you have to do is show initiative, raise your hand and step up in times where most will remain quiet."
