To meet an increased demand for COVID-19 testing, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s (CKHA) COVID-19 Assessment Centre will relocate to the St. Clair College HealthPlex at the Chatham campus

To meet an increased demand for COVID-19 testing, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s (CKHA) COVID-19 Assessment Centre will relocate to the St. Clair College HealthPlex at the Chatham campus and will accept patients for testing starting on Monday, October 5.

Students who have had labs at the HealthPlex will continue to attend their labs at the HealthPlex.

Students and staff are asked not to use the main entrance of the HealthPlex, but use the entrance next to the baseball field.

The College has approved construction of new sidewalks to ensure safe access to the new entrance during the winter.

Earlier this year, CKHA reached an agreement with St. Clair College to turn the Chatham Campus HealthPlex into the CKHA Field Hospital for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. The provincial direction to ready a Field Hospital at the outset of the pandemic ensured CKHA had additional space to accommodate any potential patient surges.

The original access to CKHA was granted until the end of September 2020.  Access has been extended until the end of December 2020 to support the community need for testing, however, St. Clair College students will continue to have safe access to required lab facilities within the building for academic purposes.

The HealthPlex will also partially remain on standby as an operationally ready Field Hospital should the need arise to accommodate potential patient surges.
