From The Little Mermaid to the St. Clair College stage and back again, Danielle Desjardins has defined herself as a talented and unforgettable presence on stage. She is set to take the Chrysler Theatre stage this April as the lead female, Polly, in the college’s production of the light-hearted musical comedy ‘The Boy Friend’.

Danielle is a third year Musical Theatre Performance student from Port Dover, Ontario. Danielle began her musical theatre career in dance at a young age. It was through dance that she began singing and soon started taking part in high school plays and community theatre.

Danielle auditioned to multiple schools after graduation, but ultimately decided on St. Clair College due to its supportive environment and multiple performance opportunities. Her sister was also a successful graduate of the program.

“I never considered taking musical theatre to a professional level until I was in ‘The Little Mermaid’ in my last year of high school where I got to play Ariel, choreograph and do the costumes,” said Danielle. “I just loved it too much to not make it what I do everyday.”

In the program, Danielle has taken part in many different productions including: ‘42nd Street’ alongside her sister, ‘Rock N’ Roll Christmas’, ‘The Pajama Game’ as Gladys and, her final show, ‘The Boy Friend’. She also works for Weekend Royalty doing princess parties and is part of the Windsor Express Dance Squad.

“I have learned so much at St. Clair and I am doing things I never would have imagined possible for myself,” said Danielle. “I cannot express enough the impact the teachers have had on me and I am so proud to be a part of this program and this family.”

Following graduation Danielle will return under the sea as a mersister in the ‘The Little Mermaid’ at the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope, Ontario.
