Basic principles of counseling, including the concepts of behaviour identification and interpretation will be discussed in this course. The student will be introduced to special issues that arise as well as having the opportunity to practice strategies and skills used by counsellors in dealing with chemically dependent clients who present with counter-productive behaviours and crisis situations.
