Second Career is an Ontario government program launched in June 2008, to help laid-off Ontarians identify and train for new careers in growing areas of the economy. Second Career can help an applicant with the costs of tuition, books, living expenses and other costs associated with the training to build skills for a new career.

Eligibility:
You may be eligible for the Second Career program if you:
- Have been laid off after January 1, 2005
- Are currently unemployed or working in a job that you were compelled to take while seeking better employment
In addition to Second Career, other Employment Ontario programs like Ontario Skills Development also provide support for training.
How to Apply:
Second Career starts with a visit to an Employment Ontario Assessment Centre, where a counsellor will help you prepare a Return to Work Action Plan and apply for the Second Career program. Check the list below for the Centre nearest you.
