St. Clair College has selected the local team of Architecttura Architects and Amico Design Build to construct Canada’s first MediaPlex.
The process of choosing from over 15 local and out of town architectural firms has now been finalized and the work on the new home of our journalism program will begin this week.
This past week, the City of Windsor officially turned over the keys of the former Salvation Army building at the corner of Victoria and University Ave. West.
Dr. John Strasser is anxious to get the renovation started. “We are looking forward to a new home for students and creating a signature building for our city at the corner of Victoria and University. Our commitment has been to do what we can, to bring more students, faculty and programs to Windsor’s downtown.”
It was September 2, when Windsor-Essex MP Jeff Watson announced the funding for our St. Clair College MediaPlex. The funding announcement of over $ 5 million will allow the college to build and provide a state of the art newsroom, classrooms and equipment, all of which, will give students a broad base of experience. The money has been provided by the federal government and is designed to stimulate local economies under the Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) for Southern Ontario.
All of the construction and renovation is to be completed by the end of March 2010.
